The next New Moon takes place in the sign of creative, individual and expressive Leo, a fire sign with a fixed quality. Leo occupies the middle of summer and is marked by the full flowering of nature under the warm rays of the Sun. As the heart of the Zodiac, Leo expresses the joy of living, pride, nobility and ambition. With it we return to the element of Fire, but from Aries to Leo the principle is transformed, so from raw animal power, absolute as a spark and lightning, it turns into a power that radiates its warmth and maturity. From the spring dawn we came to the glorious summer afternoon.

As the highest authority and power, Leo is also a symbol of justice: hence the Lions on Solomon’s thrones, French kings and medieval bishops.

Egyptians worshipped the constellation, which they referred to as “Knem”, because it was present during the flooding of the Nile River. This event signified plentiful harvests for the upcoming year, and the people interpreted it as a gift from the earth. Ruler of Egypt, Tutankhamun’s gold throne features lion heads where the seat and front legs meet, as well as clawed feet at the end of each leg, symbolizing power and royalty.[5]

Leo was one of the earliest recognized constellations, with archaeological evidence that the Mesopotamians had a similar constellation as early as 4000 BC.[10] The Persians called Leo Sir or Shir; The Turks, Artan; the Syrians, Ario; The Jews, Arye; The Indians, Simha, all meaning “Lion.”

Some mythologists believe that in Sumer, Leo represented the monster Humbaba, who was killed by Gilgamesh.[11]

In Babylonian astronomy, the constellation was called UR.GU.LA, “The Great Lion”; the bright star Regulus was known as “the star that stands at the Lion’s breast”. Regulus also had distinctly regall associations, as it was known as the King Star.[12]

In Greek mythology, Leo was identified as the Nemean Lion that was slain by Heracles (Hercules to the Romans) during the first of his twelve labors.

Narasimha is a significant iconic symbol of creative resistance, hope against odds, victory over persecution, and destruction of evil. He is the destructor of not only external evil, but also one’s own inner evil of “body, speech, and mind” states Pratapaditya Pal.[37]

In South Indian art — sculptures, bronzes and paintings — the incarnation of Vishnu as Narasimha is one of the most chosen themes and among the Avatars perhaps next only in popularity to Rama and Krishna.

Leo is the fifth sign in the Zodiac associated with the need for creation and strong will, the motto ``I create’’, hence the constant search for perfection that gives birth to a living spirit that is in constant turmoil. The Sun appears as the ruler of this sign because in this period of summer it reaches the greatest power in the sky of the Zodiac, thus giving this sign openness, honesty, readiness for reconciliation and forgiveness, but when necessary, intransigence. That is why people born under the sign of Leo radiate a special magnetism, which is enriched with lively feelings and incredible life force. It is a classic type who is almost impossible to confuse or surprise, always confident in himself and aware of his own values. All his actions come from the heart and are marked by maximum sincerity.

That is briefly about the astrosymbolism of the second summer sign, a sign with its own code of honor and honesty, responsibility and respect, strong attraction, as well as a willingness to help the weaker, not only on a professional level, but also in private and family life.

The New Moon is a cycle that occurs every month for about 29.5 days, when the Moon makes a conjunction with the Sun and thus begins a new emotional cycle for each one of us. The life juices are awakened, passion, excitement and devotion grow and the desire to manifest the visions in a concrete form arises again. That is why we say that the New Moon is an excellent period of 24 hours in which it is good to start something, to set new intentions and goals, because their realization takes place more easily, from this day and during the next two weeks until the Full Moon .

This NEW MOON in LEO is in a square to the original URANUS in TAURUS and semi-square to the dynamic MARS in VIRGO which is simultaneously in trine to URANUS. This combination heralds turbulent waters that will bring help, salvation and revival, but also reminds one to be patient through the process of sudden misfortunes, losses, betrayals, defeats, sufferings and difficult circumstances through which mental clarity or new perspective can be gained. The feeling that these difficulties have no end is actually an incentive to find wisdom in our efforts — MERCURY quincunx CHIRON Rx. This is something like the lowest point before a new beginning.

This New Moon occurs at 23° Leo 27', and the Sabian symbol for this degree is called — TOTALLY CONCENTRATED UPON INNER SPIRITUAL ATTAINMENT, A MAN IS SITTING IN A STATE OF COMPLETE NEGLECT OF BODILY APPEARANCE AND CLEANLINESS. In addition to the obvious and original symbolism that indicates a complete focus on achieving a specific goal while forgetting one’s own appearance, this symbol suggests a certain kind of “technique”, or at least an adequate means of achieving the intended goal. The remedy is TOTAL CONCENTRATION (Dane Rudhyar). This is a wonderful degree of spiritual aspiration, yet there can be a sense of imbalance; being too devoted to spiritual disciplines or emotional concerns can lead to a loss of contact with more immediate, physical or material things, hence a certain neglect or forgetfulness of the more immediate realities of life. Also, this symbol speaks of devotion to some particular cause that requires solitude and peace.

Now it is a question of self-control as opposed to arbitrary action; conflict between seeking pleasure or duty; perfecting one’s craft through diligent application versus succumbing to one’s wilder impulses; withdrawing from all responsibilities after completing all daily chores; maintaining an orderly space in a messy Bohemian or semi-Bohemian scene (incredible attempts to bring the environment under control); fearless and passionate living; discipline in chaos.

In other words, if the world outside or inside you is so active and busy, it will be difficult to hear the subtleties of intuition. It requires quieting your mind and paying more attention to intuition. When you are in tune with yourself, it will begin to speak louder to you. Paying attention to your intuition will lead you from darkness to light. The answers always lie within. At the heart of things you know what is right for you and what action to take. With the help of your guides you are able to develop and trust your own intuition, inspiration and focus.

How will this NEW MOON in LEO affect you on an individual level? In which sector of life will you need more focus and concentration? Where do you need better inspiration and intuition? In which field will you get more energy? How to succeed in your intentions?
